![]() ![]() ![]() I felt the blurb doesn’t really explain what really happens because there is so much more to this book than just Foster attempting to win Tally back. We are back in the delightful small town of Quincy for a second chance romance between Dr Talia Eden and Foster Madden. We were teased about this couple at the end of Juniper Hill so I was looking forward to their story. Garnet Flats is book three in The Edens series by Devney Perry. All of the titles pop up fairly regularly in my experience in second hand book shops and, depending on the edition, they're also available very cheaply online. There is another book in the series not included in this volume: Cobbler's Dream. The stories in this compilation are all available individually: Follyfoot, Dora at Follyfoot, The Horses of Follyfoot and Stranger at Follyfoot. This bound copy of four stories is held together by tape and the pages are ripped, and it will endure, I think, for some time yet. I fell in love with a lot of equine literature at that point and there are loves that have endured: Ruth Hollis (Oh how I still love you KM Peyton) and Follyfoot too, has endured. I first made my acquaintance with Follyfoot back in the 90s where, surrounded by shellsuits and dodgy hairdos, I fell in love. I will be eternally addicted to the rhythm of tack-cleaning, the thick, satsified exhaustion of a day in the saddle and the moment when the two of you, a horse and a rider, become one and somehow in that oneness become more than you ever thought you could be. ![]() It is a phase that I went through and that a part of me remains lost in, despite not being near a horse for too long. Everything he fought for was for honor and the well being of Lodoss and its people. Although not a paladin per say, he had the diligence of upholding justice in the name of his dead father, Tessius. Parn for his absolute undying resolve to do whats right. What was the most appealing aspect of the book was the compassion displayed by three of the main characters, Parn, Slayn, and Ghim. This book was created also right around the era of Dragonlance (do you remember those book?) which had a large influence in my fantasy interests back in the day. Roy Mizuno encapsulated the very essence of role playing adventures and put it into novel form. An excellent blend of character classes to overcome any adversary. ![]() Warrior, elf, dwarf, wizard, cleric, and thief. Being an old school gamer myself, it was interesting to see the dynamic of six standard hero classes set out on a journey across an island full of evil monsters. Parn, the dedicated warrior of justice is seeking to become a hero and protector of Lodoss, an island with a rich history of war and strife. So true is this saying in this classic hero tale of good versus evil. ![]() ![]() Reading this made me feel good, peaceful even. To be honest I’ve never read of a more balanced couple. He needed passion and healthy recklessness in his life and Queenie needed stability, support and understanding. ![]() They wouldn’t be wrong, except, no one is perfect. The way anyone would describe King would probably be “perfect”. They discuss their differences, plan on how to deal and accept them while respecting each other’s needs and wants. I loved that their differences were discussed in a way that didn’t gloss over them by preaching the whole “love will conquer it all” mantra. Usually opposites attract but they also burn through the novelty and excitement of it all pretty quickly. They are truly good for each other in an opposites attract kind of way, but it goes way beyond that as well. King and Queenie call each other the calm and the chaos respectively, and I find that description so beautifully fitting. ![]() ![]() While there is nothing extraordinary about it, everything just fit together so peacefully. I can confidently say it was the best out of the series so far. ![]() ![]() ![]() Ford also purchased Eliza, but her children were sold to other buyers. My 14 year old daughter is the one who recognized it, so she's actually the one I originally bought it for, but my curiosity got the better of me after I saw all the rave reviews. The gist is that Hades and Persephone lock eyes at a boujee party, and then everyone proceeds to act like awkward 12 years olds. Not a lot happens here, so I'm not really getting the level of OMGFLAIL that I see happening in the reviews.Īgain, this may be due to the fact that this has been miscategorized as something someone who enjoys regular comics would want to read.
